The Bills are remaining patient in contract talks with quarterback Josh Allen.

The Buffalo Bills have found a true franchise quarterback in Josh Allen. That also means the 24-year-old is set for a huge payday sooner than later.

Allen wrapped up his third NFL season in 2020 with 37 passing touchdowns and eight more on the ground. He was in the MVP conversation all season and his price tag only went up when it comes to an eventual contract extension.

So are the Bills in a rush to get an extension done before the 2021 season? GM Brandon Beane seemed to indicate the team is not in any rush to get a deal done if the numbers don’t work for both sides.

Allen is going to make some serious money. That is no secret. Dak Prescott just got a four-year, $160 million deal and he hasn’t even had the postseason success Allen has had so far.

Beane makes it a point to say the number needs to work for the Bills. Allen and his agent are obviously going to push for the highest dollar amount possible.

It all depends on whether Allen wants to prove a point and get a record deal, or if he is comfortable still taking home a fortune and leaving some money on the table that can be applied to the rest of the roster.

How he performs in 2021 is also going to play a huge role in his eventual contract. A down year would help the front office save some cash, while an MVP season may mean the team waited too long to have any hopes about saving money.

Beane is playing it cool as of right now. It is also still only April and his main focus is the upcoming NFL Draft. And while sometimes cliche, the Bills do appear to have a strong culture in place that could see the team and Allen agreeing to a new deal without much drama.
