Atlanta Braves fans are not going to be thrilled with the latest Mike Soroka injury update.

Nearly two weeks after being shut down, Atlanta Braves right-hander Mike Soroka has still yet to throw off the mound.

Soroka missed nearly all of the COVID-shortened 2020 MLB season after tearing his Achilles tendon. Prior to that unfortunate incident, Soroka had been the Braves’ ace the previous year. While he was able to pitch in the latter part of spring training, Soroka was shut down during his rehabilitation process in early April. It feels like he is not return to Atlanta until June at the earliest.

How should Braves Country feel about the latest Soroka injury update from skipper Brian Snitker?

Atlanta Braves: How worried should fans be about Mike Soroka’s health?

The big key here is Atlanta is not going to rush Soroka back to the starting rotation any sooner than the Braves have to. The front office made it a point to solidify the starting rotation this offseason to help counterbalance Soroka working his way back from such a devastating injury. However, we do have to wonder at what point Soroka does return to the Atlanta rotation in 2021.

Soroka being shut down previously ensured that he would not return until late May at the absolute earliest. Though we are still technically in the tail-end of that two-week shutdown, it feels like Braves fans will not see Soroka pitching at the big league level until at least June. The longer he is held back, the more likely he will not return until later this summer to the Braves.

If Atlanta wants to contend for a World Series this year, the Braves will need to get Soroka back.
