The St. Louis Cardinals are backing Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina in style.

Waino and Yadi have played catch with each other thousands of times, at this point. Molina could likely catch a Wainwright fastball with his eyes closed, assuming the ball was somewhere near his glove. So, it’s no surprise that the Cardinals are going to their favorite battery to start a winning streak, and go above .500 on the early season.

Behind Molina and Wainwright will be a powerful St. Louis Cardinals lineup, per usual, which includes Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado batting back-to-back come the first inning. Mike Shildt is smart getting these guys as many at-bats as possible come game time.

Yadier Molina will catch Adam Wainwright for the 278th time

Molina doesn’t take the feat likely, as he’s frequently expressed his support for his teammate. Wainwright and Molina have spent over a decade together at this point.

At the dish, Molina will hit cleanup with an opportunity to come after both Arenado and Goldschmidt. That’s a perfect spot for a player very capable at the plate, and not just behind it.

Arenado has acclimated well to St. Louis so far, though he’s slumped a bit in his last few games. for Wainwright’s sake, let’s hope he gets off the schneid.
