The Atlanta Braves have still not been able to extend their star first baseman Freddie Freeman.

Even if first baseman Freddie Freeman does not want his contract situation with the Atlanta Braves to be a distraction, well, it is certainly becoming one.

Freeman has spent his entire professional career in the Atlanta organization since being drafted out of high school. He is a perennial All-Star at first base and is coming off his first NL MVP nod. Despite all this, Freeman is still in the midst of a contract year with the Braves. He may not want his ongoing contract situation to become a distraction, but it does have Braves Country uneasy.

How should Braves fans feel about the latest development in Freeman’s ongoing contract saga?

Atlanta Braves: Letting Freddie Freeman walk would be beyond unforgivable

If Liberty Media lets Freeman walk in free agency, then they should sell the team. There is absolutely no excuse to let Freeman wear another uniform in his career. This would be worse than letting Tom Glavine pitch for the hated New York Mets. That was absolutely brutal to endure for several years and never should have been allowed to happen. At least Chipper Jones never left…

I understand that baseball is a business, but you do not need to be in the baseball business if you let the cornerstone of your franchise walk away for nothing when he is a year removed from winning NL MVP. Freeman doesn’t turn 32 until mid-September! If Liberty Media lets him walk, then Braves Country should start a GoFundMe to purchase the franchise from those cheapskates.

The only logical solution here is to keep Freeman in a Braves uniform for the rest of his career!
