3 moves Seahawks need to make during NFL Draft to hold off the Rams

The Seattle Seahawks don’t have a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but that doesn’t mean they can’t significantly improve.

It’s been a weird offseason in Seattle.

For starters, quarterback Russell Wilson has openly talked about his dissatisfaction. The Seahawks stood firm, however, and eventually surrounded him by a trade for guard Gabe Jackson, the signing of tight end Gerald Everett and the return of edge rusher Carlos Dunlap.

Still, there’s work to be done for the defense who went out in the NFC Wild Card round against the Los Angeles Rams.

3 moves the Seahawks should make in the NFL Draft

1. Draft a corner in the second round

The Seahawks only have three picks, including a second, fourth and seventh-round choice. Seattle has to nail that No. 56 overall selection, and this is a class loaded with cornerbacks. While guys like Patrick Surtain II and Caleb Farley will be long gone, there’s a reasonable chance to land Aaron Robinson out of Central Florida or Eric Stokes from Georgia.

Replacing the loss of Shaquil Griffin in the offseason should be general manager John Schneider’s top priority.

2. Trade back a few times

Again, the Seahawks only have three picks. If they don’t love the board when No. 56 rolls around, move back and pick up some more Day 3 selections. Look, the draft is essentially a crapshoot once you get out of the first round, so pick up as many lottery tickets as possible and hope to hit on a few.

3. Pick a left tackle

The Seahawks have been getting by in recent years with Duane Brown, but he’s 35 years old and a free agent after the 2021 season. There’s a ton of tackles who could be available late in the second round who would be fine choices including Texas’ Sam Costi, Notre Dame’s Liam Eichenberg and many others.
