Ja’Marr Chase obliterated the competition as a high school wide receiver in his native Louisiana.

With Ja’Marr Chase poised to be a top-eight pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, let’s check out where he started out in Metairie, Louisiana.

When he was playing at Archbishop Rummel in high school, there was nothing Chase could not do as a receiver on the field. He could run the best routes. His contested-catch skills were next level. He could also embarrass you in front of your entire family on a deep ball. Simply put, Chase was bigger, smarter and faster than everyone he went up against on the high school football field.

This is why LSU was so high on Chase coming out of high school.

Though Chase opted out of the 2020 college season, he became an LSU icon after his sensational sophomore season of 2019. Chase had 84 catches for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns during LSU’s national championship season. He was a big reason why quarterback Joe Burrow went on to win the Heisman that year. They could reunite if Chase is the No. 5 pick by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Even though Alabama football star DeVonta Smith won the Heisman Trophy this past year, we may never see another season like what Chase put together with the 2019 Bayou Bengals. Quite frankly, Chase could have been the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year had he been eligible to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. Whichever team that ends up drafting him will end up with transcendent talent.

Seeing Chase go to work against high school competition has us excited for what is next to come.
