Yankees fans start ‘Fire Boone’ chant in latest loss to Atlanta Braves (Video)

Yankees fans made sure to be loud in their calls for the firing of manager Aaron Boone during yet another April loss. 

The New York Yankees continued their nightmare start with yet another loss Wednesday night against the Atlanta Braves. The offense managed to push across one run as the Yankees dropped to 6-11.

Aaron Boone can’t seem to get his lineup going and fans in New York are growing impatient. A few of the more vocal supporters made that clear Wednesday with a chant directed right at Boone.

Yankees fans want Aaron Boone fired

Nothing is working when it comes to inspiring this lineup. Is that Boone’s fault? Plenty of fans seem to think so and a quick search of the manager’s name on Twitter reveals some strong opinions on the matter.

Last week saw Yankees fans throw baseballs onto the field in what was another painful game to watch. Of course, fans of every other MLB team are enjoying this meltdown.

Boone took over as manager in 2018 and has so far failed to get his team to the World Series. Firing him so early in the season would be a drastic move unless the front office and players are convinced he is the sole problem here.

The Yankees are a team filled with hubris so it is possible the talent on the roster is just not as great as once thought. It is also possible they will turn things around after a slow start. Just look at the Oakland A’s, who now have an 11-game win streak after a dismal 1-7 start.

Patience is not exactly the go-to strategy in New York City and ownership is not going to be thrilled about fans openly calling for Boone to be fired. And if they do want to make a move, doing it sooner than later would be smart if the goal is a World Series in 2021.

The Yankees, and their fans, may just have to face the possibility that the team is not built to win in 2021. That may be true with or without Boone.
