Patrick Mahomes had quite the response to Juan Thornhill posting on Twitter that he was ready to don the quarterback’s number next season.

Ever since he arrived to the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes has made a name for himself. Sure, we had to wait a year for him to take over as the team’s starting quarterback, but he wasted no time in letting everyone know he’s going to be one of the best signal-callers in the game throughout his career.

Mahomes is also quite the character off the field too. With everyone changing their numbers left and right, the superstar joked that he might be ditching his No. 15. This came after safety Juan Thornhill mentioned he’s eyeing that number.

Mahomes rocked No. 5 while he was in high school and also at Texas Tech. However, former Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos had that number when Mahomes arrived to the team as a first-round pick. Rather than try and snag it from Santos, he made a switch and went with No. 15. The rest is history.

The franchise quarterback has powered the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl trips, helping the team take home the Lombardi Trophy during the 2019 campaign. He was also the Super Bowl MVP that year.

Looking ahead to next season, Kansas City is already the favorite to win the Super Bowl. Should they get that done, it’d be their second title in three years. Regardless of which number he’s wearing, you better believe Mahomes will be ready to ball out once the 2021 campaign rolls around. He’s coming off offseason toe surgery, but don’t think for a second that that’s going to slow him down once Week 1 arrives.
