2. Jameis Winston will be traded

Plenty of NFL observers were surprised by Winston’s decision to return to New Orleans in free agency. The assumption is that he’s going to battle with Taysom Hill for the starting job during the preseason.
Winston probably has more talent than Hill, but he doesn’t have nearly as much trust from Payton and the coaching staff. The smart money should be on Hill to win the starting job and hold on to it for all of 2021.

That outcome would make Winston a very intriguing trade target for any team that suffers a high-profile injury at the quarterback position. His turnover history from his days in Tampa Bay is a concern, but there’s no denying his arm talent. Plenty of offensive coaches around the league believe they can turn him into a high-quality starter if given the opportunity.

The Saints would be smart to turn him into a mid-round draft pick if they get the opportunity. That might leave New Orleans light on depth at quarterback, but it would still be great value for the impending free agent. Trading Winston could be a clever front office move by New Orleans in 2021.
