Smart money is on Max Fried returning this weekend
By John Buhler
Max Fried will be returning to the Atlanta Braves’ roster in a matter of days.
After spending the better part of April on the IL, the Atlanta Braves will be getting back left-hander Max Fried in the next few days or so.
Fried has been eligible to come off the 10-day IL since April 24, but has yet to make his return from a hamstring injury. While he was seen pitching from the rubber at Truist Park pre-game in what looks to be a side session, the smart money would be on Fried returning to the Atlanta lineup over the weekend. This is because the Braves will play the AL’s Toronto Blue Jays on the road.
By waiting until the weekend to return, that would mean Fried would not have to run the bases.
Atlanta Braves: Max Fried should return to the lineup by this weekend
Fried has not had a good season thus far for the Braves. He struggled mightily in his three starts this year, as well as dealing with a pair of injuries. Fried had to exit his second start of 2021 after taking a liner off his calf in the second inning. He followed that up by tweaking his hamstring in a disaster of a performance two weeks ago. The Braves need Fried to provide this team a spark.
Atlanta gave Braves Country 14 innings of suck on Sunday afternoon. It was dog in the park day at Truist Park and unless you like dogs or root for the Arizona Diamondbacks, there was nothing to be positive about after that abysmal showing in both seven-inning games. Manager Brian Snitker is out of answers and the three-time reigning NL East champions need to figure it out here fast.
Here is to Fried and the Braves getting back to good by the end of the this weekend.
