The Dallas Cowboys could make a bunch of different moves in the 2021 NFL Draft. What outcomes would be the best for the franchise?

It’s nearly go-time for the Cowboys and the 2021 NFL Draft.

Sitting at No. 10 in the first round, Dallas can keep it simple and make the straight-forward pick. Or they could get creative.

Whether they stay put or move up or down, these are the best possible outcomes…

3. The Cowboys get their pick in the secondary

For weeks the debate between Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II and South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn. With no one else apparently considering a cornerback ahead of them, Dallas will get their pick to bolster the secondary.

The only thing that matters here is the evaluation. There isn’t much to separate Surtain and Horn. The latter has great upside. The former brought proven results on a national championship team.

Most evaluators have Surtain ahead of Horn, so for now, you have to assume the Cowboys pick that way as well. If they go with Surtain, they’ll get the consensus top CB in the draft. If they go with Horn, it’s because they see something more in him. Either way, they’ll get a guy expected to start right away.

The proof on either one will have to come once they’ve played a few years in the league. As far as draft day is concerned, they’re both a victory for the Cowboys defense.
