The Seahawks are ready to put their offseason drama behind them. Here are five bold predictions for Russell Wilson’s team as they head into 2021.

The chances of the Seahawks trading Russell Wilson this offseason were always exceedingly remote, but it made for interesting fodder for the NFL rumor mill. Now that it’s crystal clear Wilson isn’t going anywhere, it’s time to assess what type of season Seattle fans should be hoping for in 2021.

Fans in the Pacific Northwest understandably believe Wilson can power the team to another Super Bowl title if things break right. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett give the veteran signal-caller one of the best wide receiver duos in the league. Seattle should put up plenty of points this season even if their run game doesn’t match their aerial prowess.

The defense has slipped considerably since the “Legion of Doom” days. Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams give Carroll’s coaching staff two superstars to build around, but the unit lacks quality depth. Seattle’s defense wasn’t bad last season, but it was decidedly average. The unit’s ability to take a step forward may well determine just how good the Seahawks can be in 2021.

Seattle has a clear path towards another Super Bowl title, but significant regression is also possible. Read on for five bold predictions on how the Seahawks’ upcoming campaign will progress.

5. A rookie will become Seattle’s No. 3 receiver

One glaring hole in the Seahawks’ offensive depth chart is behind Metcalf and Lockett as the team’s third option at wide receiver. David Moore left for Carolina in free agency and there isn’t an obvious replacement on the current roster.

Look for Seattle to land a new weapon for Wilson in the middle rounds. Lockett’s versatility gives the franchise real flexibility in terms of the type of receiver they select. Seahawks fans should keep a particularly close eye on both Nico Collins and Shi Smith in the middle rounds.
