1. The Cowboys could move up for Asante Samuel Jr.

The Cowboys traded down in Round 2, but they should strongly consider doing the opposite in Round 2. Moving up the board a few slots to secure Samuel would be a big win for the Dallas defense.

There’s a strong argument to be made that Samuel should have heard his name called late in Round 1. He didn’t play on a strong Florida State team, but he was a legitimate shutdown corner for the Seminoles. What he lacks in size, he more than makes up for with his smooth hips and excellent technique.

That makes him an ideal fit in Dallas to serve as their No. 2 corner on the outside opposite Mullen. Samuel even can give them the added benefit of a guy who can slide inside and man the slot when the opposition demands it. That versatility means he’s going to go off the board very early in Round 2.

The Cowboys need to take the bold step to fill one of their biggest needs. Moving up 10 or so spots to make sure they get Samuel would be great business for Jerry Jones and his front office. This is the scenario Dallas fans should be hoping for as Day 2 gets underway.
