Kyle Brandt is all of Chicagoland on Friday morning after the Chicago Bears drafted Ohio State football star Justin Fields.

Good Morning Football‘s Kyle Brandt could not have been more fired up the morning after his beloved Chicago Bears traded up to get former Ohio State football phenom Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft.

For the first time in a lifetime, the Bears have a drafted a quarterback who can actually be a franchise quarterback. Fields was a sensational college player for the Buckeyes. He won back-to-back Big Ten championships in Columbus, leading Ohio State to the College Football Playoff both times. I mean, look at how euphoric Brandt was on the Good Morning Football set Friday morning.

If you’re not fired up to be a Bears fan this glorious Friday morning, I don’t know what to tell you.

No NFL franchise has suffered more futility at the quarterback position than the Bears. They were the only franchise to not have a 4,000-yard passer in any year during the 16 regular-season game era. No Bears quarterback has ever been to more than two Pro Bowls during his time in Chicago. The hope is all of that could change once Fields firmly enters his prime in the mid-2020s.

What makes Fields such a transcendent draft prospect is his dual-threat playmaking abilities, as well as the touch he can put on his passes. While his arm is not what you would define as a gun, it is strong enough to cut through the harsh northern wind commonplace at Soldier Field. For the first time in years, Bears fans actually have hope at the quarterback position. It is good to be them.

If Fields can live up to big expectations, he will be the most beloved Chicago player in a generation.
