Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Zach Banner is all about general manager Kevin Colbert.

Pittsburgh Steelers fans have begun to question the draft-day moves made by general manager Kevin Colbert, but offensive lineman Zach Banner does not think they should be doing that at all.

With his first three picks of the 2021 NFL Draft, Colbert has selected Alabama running back Najee Harris in the first round (No. 24 overall), Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth in the second (No. 55 overall) and Illinois guard Kendrick Green in the third (No. 87). Even though Banner was not drafted by the Steelers, does he have a point here or is he being loyal to a fault to his general manager?

Banner, Colbert and the rest of the Steelers organization have some major work ahead of them.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Zach Banner has Kevin Colbert’s back in the NFL Draft

While Colbert has made more than his fair share of bad draft selections in the Steelers’ war room, this remains one of the best-run organizations in the NFL. Colbert has hit on more picks than he has missed, which has led to the Steelers never having a losing record during Mike Tomlin’s tenure as head coach. His draft and free-agency moves have been a big reason for the team’s success.

Ultimately, it is way too early to judge how a draft went, especially when there is a whole other day left of picks to be made. While some Steelers fans may crush Colbert for drafting Artie Burns or Mason Rudolph, he was the one that got them T.J. Watt, Chase Claypool and JuJu Smith-Schuster, among several other players. Banner is right in that you trust Colbert in the war room.

Only time will tell if Colbert really nailed or truly failed with his many 2021 NFL Draft selections.
