With Chicago Cubs slugger Kris Bryant being on absolute fire right now, the organization has to figure out the long-term plans for him.

When Kris Bryant is hitting the cover off the ball, Chicago Cubs fans really couldn’t be happier. The star third baseman is having a great 2021 thus far, as he entered Sunday’s game with seven homers and 19 RBI.

Well, Bryant has changed things against the Reds, as he’s left the yard twice in the middle of the action. With his nine dingers, he’s now tied for the league lead with Ronald Acuña Jr. at nine. Take a bow, Mr. Bryant.

As great as it is to see Bryant explode offensively for the Cubs, it really puts more and more pressure on the front office to figure things out with him contract wise. Bryant is all set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season comes to a close. If he’s playing this well, the Cubs need to either sign him to an extension or trade him.

If they do decide they want to trade him, now would quite literally be the best time. He’s back to his old form and countless teams would love to land his services. Chicago would be able to get a huge return for him as well.

At the same time, the more the Cubs wait to decide what to do, the less attractive things might get for potential suitors. Bryant’s trade stock is through the roof right now. At the same time, the Cubs could also reward him for his strong play.

It’s of course not an easy decision to make, but the Cubs need to make the tough call as soon as possible. The longer they way, the harder it will be.
