The first-place Milwaukee Brewers are about to get a whole lot scarier with Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain healthy and returning to the outfield.

The Brewers are already having a strong season in 2021. They’re top of the standings in the National League.

Amazingly they’ve managed that without Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain.

Even better, they won’t have to any longer.

On Monday, Yelich and Cain are slated to return to the lineup as they make a return from the 10-day injured list.

The Phillies are the unfortunate team that gets to welcome the two back.

The Brewers optioned Keston Hiura to their alternate training side to make room.

Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain are back

Yelich has been out since Apr. 11 with a back problem. When his recovery hit a plateau, Milwaukee even had to send him home from a road trip to get an MRI to make sure there wasn’t anything else going on.

Cain has been out almost as long. He last played on Apr. 13 before a strained quadriceps forced him out of the lineup.

Before the injury, Cain was struggling at the plate. The Brewers will hope the time off will give him a fresh start to the season.

It’s the opposite for Yelich, who was on a tear in the nine games he played before his trip to the injured list. The former MVP batted .333/.459/.367. If he comes back with similar numbers, Milwaukee will feel much more confident about the progress of their season.

Monday’s game is the first of a four-game series and the start of a seven-game road trip wrapping up in Miami. The Brewers came out of their series with the Dodgers claiming three wins in four. However, the last game was a 16-4 beatdown. The game in Philadelphia will be a welcome chance to clear that bad taste out of their mouth.
