The defending NFC North champions have been in the news recently in regards to their veteran quarterback. But what about their nine draft choices in 2021?

There appear to be some big issues surrounding the defending NFC North champions. Of course, it depends on what you read and who you listen to these days when it comes to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. But that’s a fluid story for another time. And obviously, there’s a long way to go before the start of the season and it will be interesting to see how things play out in “Titletown.”

Speaking of the team that has finished 13-3 and won the division two straight years, Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst was busy adding to the team’s roster and wound up selecting nine players and did a pretty god job addressing nearly every aspect of the club. So which of these young additions could prove to be a pleasant surprise?

3 Packers draft picks who are sleepers for stardom

3. G Cole Van Lanen (Wisconsin)

You will recall that a year ago, general manager Brian Gutekunst addressed Green Bay’s offensive line three times in the sixth round in guards Jon Runyan and Simon Stepaniak and center Jake Hanson. This time around, he once again added three blockers in the draft in center Josh Myers (2-Ohio State), tackle Royce Newman (4-Tennessee) and guard Cole Van Lanen (6-Wisconsin).

The latter is expected to make the transition from tackle to the inside (via NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein) and the 6’4”, 305-pound performer could add some beef and competition to Matt LaFleur’s offense.
