More SEC football players were taken in the 2021 NFL Draft than in any draft to date.

Together, all 14 SEC football programs helped break its own conference record of having the most amount of players taken in an NFL Draft.

The SEC was able to break its old record of 64 players drafted by one this year. Every single SEC team had a player taken over the weekend, meaning all 14 member institutions played a part in breaking this impressive record. Naturally, the SEC had more players drafted this year than any other conference. The SEC also had 12 players taken in the first round out of six different schools.

For the 15th year in a row, the SEC asserted its dominance over every other FBS conference.

SEC football sets record for most players taken in an NFL Draft with 65 taken

Of the 259 players taken over the weekend, 65 of them hailed from SEC programs. Fate would have it a pair of former Mississippi State standouts tied and then broke the draft record. Defensive end Marquiss Spencer went No. 253 to the Denver Broncos in the seventh round to tie it. Running back Kylin Hill was the 65th SEC player taken when he went No. 256 to the Cleveland Browns.

Overall, the SEC was ever-present in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Power 5 conference is annually, but the really cool part was seeing all 14 schools represented by one star player during the draft. While it took a while for a guy from Arkansas, Auburn and Mississippi State to hear his name called, every SEC team had a reason to celebrate over the weekend. The NFL Draft breeds hope.

Here is to the SEC being able to break its new record of 65 players taken next spring in Las Vegas.
