Alabama football: 3 former Crimson Tide stars who still need an NFL team in 2021
You can find Alabama football alumni scattered throughout NFL rosters, but some Crimson Tide stars are still waiting to find a team for 2021.
Alabama football has become a massive NFL factory during the Nick Saban years. The Crimson Tide even tied a record for the most first-round draft picks in a year.
As rookies come in, however, spots for veterans can get harder to find.
Which Alabama stars are still without an NFL team for the 2021 season?
3. Dre Kirkpatrick
Veteran cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick has 78 career starts under his belt, it’s just not clear whose colors he’ll be wearing next.
The 31-year-old most recently played for the Cardinals, who signed him to a one-year deal after the Bengals cut him in 2020. He started 11 times, had three interceptions, seven pass break-ups and 56 tackles.
Even though he had an effective season, it wasn’t enough to convince the Cardinals to pay him more than the veteran’s minimum. He’ll have to find someone else who is if he wants to get on a roster for 2021.
Kirkpatrick won two national titles with Alabama before he became a first-round draft pick in 2012. He spent eight years with the Bengals.
He could help a team with reliability and experience, but the market for cornerbacks is a worry.
