Star Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer joked on social media that he might end up pitching during the annual Home Run Derby.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer on Twitter really is the gift that keeps on giving. The reigning NL Cy Young winner is no stranger to trolling folks, but he also doesn’t mind ripping himself and taking playful jabs at his performances as well. This was on full display on Tuesday night.

In a showdown with the Cubs, Bauer gave up a solo shot to veteran outfielder Jason Heyward in the bottom of the fourth. Bauer’s delivery was right down Main Street, and Heyward made him pay for it. Rather than sulk on that pitch, Bauer instead is inviting sluggers everywhere to hire him as their hurler for the Home Run Derby. You can’t make this up.

Trevor Bauer promoting himself to pitch at the Home Run Derby is hilarious

Bauer isn’t known for giving up too many dingers, but as Heyward showcased to us, the standout isn’t immune to making mistakes from time to time. Imagine if Bryce Harper or Mike Trout were to have him pitch for them at the Home Run Derby. It’d be must-see television.

Knowing Bauer, though, he might lose his temper if someone hits too many blasts off of him and throw a ball over the centerfield wall or something. We kid, we kid.

In his first year with the Dodgers, the veteran hurler is 3-1, with a 2.44 ERA and 58 strikeouts, which is fifth-best in the league. Bauer is also sporting an impressive 0.79 WHIP. With the Dodgers sitting in third place of the NL West standings, they’ll look to go on a hot streak and take over the lead of the division. You know Bauer will ready to rock in trying to make that happen.

Come the All-Star festivities, though, we’ll see if he ends up firing meatballs down the middle for a slugger or two to take advantage of. Again, it’d made for incredible TV.
