The Browns had another solid draft class under Andrew Berry, but there is always room for second-guessing following the selections.

The Cleveland Browns generally received positive grades regarding their 2021 draft class. But anyone who has watched the sport before knows these grades cannot become official for at least three years.

Initial mistakes can always be found and this class is no different. Let’s look at three in particular that stand out.

3. Focusing on smaller linebackers

The Browns drafted Jermiah Owusu-Koramoah in the second round and Tony Fields II in the fifth round. Both linebackers are smaller in stature and could end up sliding back to safety.

The fear is that they end up not having a proper position at all. Sliding either back to safety may not even be possible if they cannot adjust to the position right away at the NFL level.

Owusu-Koramoah should be a lock to make the roster. Fields is going to have a tougher path being a late-round pick. And of course, both players are going to bulk up once they start training with the Browns.

The NFL is always evolving and getting a 6-foot-4 linebacker is not always necessary, or even possible. But taking two that are linebacker/safety hybrids does potentially leave a need on the defense heading into camp.
