Damian Lillard has incredibly high praise of Kevin Durant when he is healthy.

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has mad respect for Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant.

“I think [Kevin Durant] healthy could very well be the best player in the NBA,” said Lillard on The Dan Patrick Show Tuesday.

“I mean nobody can guard him. If he’s healthy, he’s shooting 3’s off the dribble, pulling up off the dribble, posting up. He can get to the rim. You can’t block his shot. The way he handles the ball and moves at that size, who are you going to put on him? When healthy, I think at this moment, he could very well be the best player in the league.”

Does Lillard have a point here or is he fawning over Durant shamelessly on The Dan Patrick Show?

Damian Lillard: Kevin Durant might be the best player in the NBA today

While there is no doubt about what Durant can do on the hardwood, it always comes back to two things with him: Health and personality. Durant has had a handful of injuries in his hall-of-fame career. Not being fully healthy for the better part of three years cannot sit well with those who question if Durant is the best player in basketball. As far as personality, some feel he is a wanderer and not a true alpha.

When we wants to, the “Slim Reaper” will eviscerate any opponent on the basketball court. His jump shot is unstoppable. He can protect the rim as well as any big man in the game today. Durant has great handles for his size and can take over any game in an instant. Durant can be the best player in the NBA, but it is a title that is earned, not handed out to just anyone.
