The Golden State Warriors received great news on Kelly Oubre Jr., who will only miss a week or so due to his wrist injury.

The Golden State Warriors thought they received awful news in the form of Kelly Oubre Jr. tearing a ligament in his left wrist and a fracture to the palm that could effectively end his season. As it turns out, they received a bit of good luck.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, Oubre will not require surgery on his left wrist and is expected to miss just 1-2 weeks.

Warriors: Kelly Oubre Jr. out 1-2 weeks with left wrist injury

Oubre’s injury occurred back on April 9 after falling on his wrist following a dunk attempt during a game against the Washington Wizards. While Oubre did play through the injury, he has not played since April 27, when he scored 10 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in Golden State’s 133-103 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

The Warriors acquired the swingman from the Oklahoma City Thunder after Klay Thompson tore his Achilles tendon on the night of the 2020 NBA Draft. The Thunder had just acquired Oubre from the Phoenix Suns in the blockbuster Chris Paul trade.

Through 55 games this season, Oubre has averaged 15.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists a night while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from the 3-point line.

The Warriors (33-33) have six games remaining in the regular season, with their last game being on May 16. As of this writing, Golden States sits in ninth place in the Western Conference, where they hold a three-game lead over the New Orleans Pelicans (30-36), who sit just outside of play-in round eligibility.

Based on this timeline, Oubre could very well become available for the play-in round. If not by then, it would be the first round of the playoffs, but that is only if Golden State clinches a spot.
