Francisco Lindor is officially a New York Met, as he’s delivered in a big moment and been booed, all within a week-long stretch.

Such is the life of playing baseball in New York City. Lindor brutal start to the season was well-publicized, from the back page of the Daily News to this very website. The $340 million man was hitting as low as .151 earlier this week, but finally broke out of his slump with a two-hit showing in St. Louis. On Friday night, he delivered a game-tying, pinch-hit home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks for his first Citi Field blast, and his second as a Met.

New York Mets: Fans will learn to love Francisco Lindor

Piling on Lindor as a New York failure was far too premature, as the Mets are stuck with their new face of the franchise for the next decade. One way or another, he will go down in franchise lore.

The Mets didn’t give up a ton to get Lindor in the first place, but Steve Cohen did opt to sign him to a massive contract just before the start of the season. This added even more pressure to Lindor’s first year in New York, and it’s good to see him finally busting out of his month-long slump.
