The Minnesota Vikings could potentially add one of these high-profile free agents this summer.

Even after taking 11 players in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings could still look to add a high-profile free agent or two in NFL free agency in the coming weeks or months.

Minnesota got off to a slow start a season ago, which prevented the Vikings from getting back into the playoffs. However, they should be one of the better teams in the NFC this fall on talent alone. As long as they are starting Kirk Cousins under center, it is win-now mode in Minneapolis, regardless of how promising of a pro prospect they may believe Kellen Mond is out of Texas A&M.

Here are three veteran free agents the Vikings could add to their roster a week after the NFL Draft.

Signing native son Larry Fitzgerald will really pull at Minnesotans’ heartstrings

While there is a decent chance Arizona Cardinals legendary wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald calls it a career this offseason, he is without a contract currently and it would so pull at many Minnesotans’ heartstrings to see the Minneapolis native suit up and play one last season for the Vikings. If he does play somewhere else besides in Arizona, Minnesota would have to be the best bet for it.

Even in his late 30s, Fitzgerald can still play at a high level. Though he’s no longer a 1,000-yard receiver at this point of his illustrious career, Fitzgerald still can do the little things necessary to help play winning football. His love of the game and first-class nature will be a welcomed addition to any franchise he potentially signs on with. Even if the Vikings are new to him, Minnesota is home.

Fitzgerald would be an overqualified No. 3 wide receiver behind Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen if he were to join the Vikings. Frankly, he would be an overqualified No. 3 wide receiver if he were to return to Arizona behind DeAndre Hopkins and newcomer A.J. Green. Overall, this is only a Minnesota pipe dream to get Fitzgerald to sign on for one last season with the Vikings.
