The Los Angeles Dodgers have been struggling as of late, and starting pitcher Trevor Bauer shared some strong words following the team’s 2-1 loss to the Angels on Sunday.

Remember when the New York Yankees’ struggling at the start of the season took center stage for MLB? Well, now it is the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers‘ turn. Following their 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, the Dodgers have now lost five consecutive series for the first time since the 2017 season.

Starting pitcher Trevor Bauer, who took the mound on Sunday, shared his thoughts on the team’s struggles, saying that he is “pissed” that the team is “not playing up to [their] capability.” You can read Bauer’s full comments in tweet thread below, courtesy of Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

Dodgers: Trevor Bauer shares his thoughts on Los Angeles’ struggles early on this season

The Dodgers did hold a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning following an RBI single from Chris Taylor, but they immediately gave it up in the bottom of the frame. Bauer surrendered singles to Phil Gosselin and David Fletcher before walking Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout to load the bases. Following a mound visit, Jared Walsh hit a double over the right field wall to give the Angels a 2-1 lead.

While Bauer surrendered those two runs on four hits, he did strike out nine Angels batters on Sunday.

The Dodgers’ struggles be attributed to their bad luck with injuries over a month into the season. Starting pitcher Dustin May is set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery, while the likes of Cody Bellinger, David Price, Brusdar Graterol, Tony Gonsolin, Corey Knebel Edwin Rios, Zach McKinstry and Scott Alexander are all on the injured list as of this writing.

While things look bad for the Dodgers right now, there is still plenty of time for the team to turn things around and return to their playoff-contending ways down the stretch. But since the Dodgers are the defending World Series champions, they will be under the proverbial microscope until they win a series.
