The FSU football program adds former Kansas football player Andrew Parchment to the team.

After spending two years with the Kansas football program, wide receiver Andrew Parchment is joining the FSU football team as a graduate transfer.

“We’re extremely excited about Andrew joining our program,” said Florida State head coach Mike Norvell in a statement. “We feel like he brings a great play-making ability and home-run threat to the receiver position. Being from Florida, it’s also a great opportunity for him down here as he finishes his college career in front of family and friends as a Seminole.”

Parchment had 1,028 receiving yards on 89 catches for nine touchdowns in his two years with the Kansas program.

FSU football: Seminoles land former Kansas football player Andrew Parchment

While Parchment had individual success in his two seasons playing for Les Miles at Kansas, the Jayhawks were among the worst teams in the Power 5 over that span. Though there is nothing wrong with him pursuing a graduate degree at a big-time ACC school like Florida State, for the Seminoles to be adding players from struggling Power 5 programs like Kansas speaks volumes.

Even if Norvell cut his teeth as a receivers coach, this graduate transfer portal addition tells you everything you need to know about the state of FSU football. The Seminoles may return to prominence under Norvell, but they are a long way away from catching Clemson or even Miami or North Carolina in the ACC hierarchy. Even if they “pop” this year, Florida State is not on their level.

After a rough 2020 season, Norvell and his coaching staff have no choice but to be better in 2021.
