The Kansas City Chiefs must avoid falling in these trap games to get home-field advantage.

Though the Kansas City Chiefs should be the favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl again, they need to make sure they do not stumble in the proverbial trap game this season.

Even with a challenging first-place schedule, the Chiefs will be favored to win just about every game they play this year. No, they are not going undefeated during the regular season because nobody does that, especially with a 17th game being added for the first time in 2021. However, they can still get the No. 1 seed in the AFC if they can avoid stumbling in these three trap games.

Here are the three games the Chiefs need to be careful of when navigating their 2021 schedule.

Kansas City Chiefs: 3 trap games they can’t afford to lose

3. Week 10: Kansas City Chiefs at Las Vegas Raiders (Nov. 14)

Are the Chiefs better than the Las Vegas Raiders? Absolutely. That is not even a question. However, the Silver and Black were able to go into Arrowhead last year, stun the Chiefs and win their Super Bowl. So with that fresh in everyone’s mind, look for the Chiefs to potentially have a bit of a letdown game when they make their annual trek to Allegiant Stadium in Week 10 on Nov. 14.

Even though the Chiefs won in their first-ever trip to Sin City last year, this season’s game will be in front of fans. That means Raider Nation will be there in full force. Even if the Raiders massively upgraded in terms of venue, you better believe the Black Hole will have sleeves of batteries to pelt opposing Chiefs players when they enter this hostile road environment. The crowd will be a factor.

While this is a division game, the reason it can be defined as a trap game is strictly based off when the Chiefs play the Raiders on their schedule. This rivalry game will come after the Chiefs host the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. Kansas City will have another marquee game when they host the Dallas Cowboys the following week ahead of their late Week 12 bye. Watch out for the Raiders!
