Watch LeBron James react to Kobe Bryant’s Hall of Fame enshrinement: ‘Celebration for a Laker great’
By John Buhler
LeBron James shares his thoughts on Kobe Bryant being enshrined into the hall of fame.
After beating the Indiana Pacers 122-115 to improve to 41-30 on the season, LeBron James reflected on the late Kobe Bryant and what it means for the Los Angeles Lakers legend to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
This was James’ first game back since reaggravating his ankle vs. the Toronto Raptors earlier in the month. James had missed 26 of the Lakers’ last 28 games due to the injury. In his return to the lineup, James scored 24 points, had eight assists and gathered seven rebounds in 28 minutes. Fate would have it his 24 pants and eight assists matched the jersey numbers of the Lakers icon.
Here is what James had to say postgame on what this day means for the Bryant Family and the Lakers organization.
Lakers: LeBron James reflects on Kobe Bryant getting into the hall of fame
Ahead of Saturday evening’s induction, Bryant’s wife Vanessa put his Hall of Game jacket on their oldest daughter Natalia. They stood on stage next to the other members of the impressive 2020 class. Other people being inducted in this class include Tamika Catchings, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kim Mulkey, the late Eddie Sutton and Rudy Tomjanovich.
Even though they never squared off in an NBA Finals, Bryant and James were somewhat rivals during the better part of their careers. It was a bold move for James to sign with the Lakers in his free agency in the summer of 2018. This was Kobe’s team. But with him winning a title in his first year without Bryant, James is right at home playing for the NBA’s most celebrated and iconic franchise.
James was pure class in celebrating the life of Bryant on a special day for his entire family.
