As the Green Bay Packers move through the rest of the offseason, these three rookies have a lot to prove.

With rookie minicamp in the books, the Green Bay Packers have completed a step of the offseason program. The Aaron Rodgers situation will be the headline maker around the team until it’s resolved, one way or another. How it turns out will set the storyline for the 2021 season.

Amid the questions around Rodgers, the Packers got a look at their 2021 draft class and some other players on a tryout basis during the recent minicamp. Some of their nine draft picks will be counted on for prominent roles right away as rookies, as general manager Brian Gutekunst stayed out of any big moves to add outside talent in free agency. The Packers also had  a couple key losses in free agency.

With an eye toward June minicamp, then training camp and preseason games, these three Packers’ rookies have the most to prove.

3. Josh Myers, center

The Packers lost one of the best centers in the NFL when Corey Linsley signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. When they took Myers in the second round (No. 62 overall), they automatically anointed him as the new man in the middle of the line for whoever their quarterback will be.

Besides the physical requirements of the position, a center will ideally be a leader of the offensive line. He also has to master the mental side, in terms of being on the same page with the quarterback, helping with line calls and recognition of defenses. Myers will have to make that entire transition quickly, but preseason games should help.
