Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry responded to LeBron James calling him the league MVP ahead of their huge play-in round matchup.

The first two NBA play-in round matchups on Tuesday night turned out to be duds, but everyone is anticipating the huge matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors. At the end of the regular-season, LeBron James praised Stephen Curry, calling him the MVP of the 2020-21 season.

When speaking with the media on Tuesday, Curry said he appreciated the complimentary words from James ahead of their must-win game on Wednesday night.

Warriors: Stephen Curry responds to LeBron James calling him NBA MVP

In Golden State’s regular-season finale, Curry clinched the NBA’s 2020-21 scoring title after dropping 46 points on the Memphis Grizzlies. That is why James gave Curry that lofty praise, because the Warriors guard has been on a tear for the second-half of the season.

Even with this feat, there are many loud voices who are disqualifying Curry from the NBA MVP race altogether due to the Warriors finishing the regular-season just six games above .500. But on the flip side, Curry carried a Warriors team without Klay Thompson all year and rookie James Wiseman for a large chunk to the play-in tournament.

Curry lead the league in points per game (32.0) and 3-pointers made per game (5.3). Additionally, the guard is averaging 5.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals through 63 games, while shooting 48.2-percent from the field and 42.1-percent from the 3-point line.

The two stars know what lays in front of them on Wednesday night. The winner will clinch the seventh-seed in the Western Conference, while the loser will have to face the winner of the Memphis Grizzlies-San Antonio Spurs play-in game for a shot at the No. 8 seed.

Regardless of the outcome, basketball fans look forward to James and Curry putting on a clinic.
