Atlanta Braves catcher William Contreras is really turning heads thus far this season and things only got better after he smashed a 3-run homer.

The Atlanta Braves are down to their third catcher and at first, people were panicking all over the place. That’s surely not the case anymore. That’s because 23-year-old backstop William Contreras is living up to the hype and then some since being called up.

That continued on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. With the NL East side trailing 2-0, Contreras was able to change that with one outstanding swing of the bat. Braves supporters really are going to love the clip below.

William Contreras drilling a homer against Pittsburgh is a thing of beauty

That dinger right there was a complete and total no-doubter. While Contreras has a sensational arm, he’s also got some outstanding power at the dish. His blast against the Pirates sure was impressive. On the year, Contreras is hitting .256, with three homers and 10 RBI.

Remember, he started off the year in the minors and was only called up due to injuries to Travis d’Arnaud and Alex Jackson. Contreras has really wasted no time in proving that he’s the catcher of the future for this club.

Brian Snitker obviously loves what he’s been seeing from the youngster, and he’ll only take advantage of his opportunities while he’s still up in the bigs. If anything, Contreras is making things harder for Snitker once a decision needs to be made when d’Arnaud and Jackson return to full health.

That’s not a bad problem to have for the team, of course. Contreras has quite the future ahead of him for the Braves. Atlanta supporters are surely enjoying the ride thus far.
