Josh Taylor gets into shoving match with Jose Ramirez after weigh-in (Video)

Super lightweight champions Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez have been respectful, but that changed after the weigh-in when a shoving match occurred.

Ahead of their Saturday, May 22 super lightweight unification boxing bout, Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez have shown signs of tension. That tension finally boiled over.

During the pre-fight weigh-in, Taylor and Ramirez traded words the face-off. Things escalated after in the hotel lobby.

Ramirez and his team members were waiting for the elevator when Taylor and his team followed while yelling insults. Based on a video shared by Top Rank’s Twitter account, Taylor got in Ramirez’s face and aggressively shoved him.

Ramirez then went after Taylor but was separated by several team members. It’s uncharacteristic for both fighters to react violently outside of the ring, but Taylor has grown more vocal towards Taylor in recent days.

During a media call on Tuesday, Taylor was complimentary of Ramirez but got into Ramirez’s face during the final press conference on Thursday.
