What NBA Playoff games are on tonight, May 23rd, and where can you watch the action?

The NBA Playoffs are finally in full swing, as the weekend will close with every series having its first game in the books.

Saturday’s opening day slate featured great games across the board, from the Heat dragging the Bucks into overtime, the Nets flexing its Big 3 in the clutch, the Mavericks pulling off a Game 1 upset over the Clippers, or the Blazers dominating the Nuggets to start off their series.

What that all means is the bar has been set high for the Sunday slate of games.

NBA Playoff games tonight, May 23rd

There’s a full buffet of basketball on all day Sunday featuring four games in an almost 10 hour block.

Here is what the schedule looks like today:

  • Wizards vs. 76ers – 1pm ET on ESPN
  • Lakers vs. Suns – 3pm ET on ABC
  • Hawks vs. Knicks – 7pm ET on TNT
  • Grizzlies vs. Jazz – 9:30pm ET on TNT

There’s something to take away from every game on the slate, whether or not the teams playing will end up being anything more than tears in the rain. Of the eight teams playing, only three seem like tru title contenders and only one team will ultimately win. So in a matchup like the Hawks-Knicks — two teams that make better stories than contenders — the reason to watch revolves around New York finally returning to glory after years of miserable pain for fans.

A game like the Lakers-Suns features two title contenders, one defending its crown and the other looking like the type of young upstart squad announcing its arrival. Of course, the Suns could get waxed by the Lakers in five games, sending Chris Paul into free agency still looking for that elusive championship ring. We could also get a series where a young Suns team establishes itself and its franchise star, Devin Booker, as a team that will contend in the years to come.

No matter what the reason to watch is, there’s a healthy helping of basketball on today and there’s no excuse to not dig in.
