The Cleveland Indians got an incredible defensive play from Jordan Luplow with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Detroit Tigers.

One play was the difference between victory and defeat for the Indians on Monday.

The bases were loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as Eric Haase made contact and sent a ball into shallow right field.

That’s when Jordan Luplow came through in the clutch.

In terms of impact defensive plays, it doesn’t get much better. The diving catch ended the inning and prevented the Tigers from tying the game or taking the lead.

Jordan Luplow was the perfect defensive replacement for the Indians

Terry Francona deserves a pat on the back for putting Luplow into the game as a defensive replacement in the eighth. The strategic move couldn’t have worked out better.

The Indians and Tigers went back and forth for most of the game, so it was fitting the result came down to the finest margin.

Detroit struck first with two runs in the second. Cleveland responded with two in the third. The Tigers hit back with a run in the third.

It looked like the Indians had control with a sixth-inning run followed by a wild pitch in the seventh scoring one. The lead was 6-3 by the middle of the seventh.

Of course, Detroit wasn’t done yet. Willi Castro homered to draw the home team within one. However, Luplow spoiled the comeback with his impressive catch.
