Pittsburgh Penguins fans were furious at goalie Tristan Jarry, whose blunder allowed the New York Islanders to win Game 5 in double overtime.

Remember when Washington Capitals goalie Ilya Samsonov was ridiculed by the masses for his egregious error that cost the team Game 3 against the Boston Bruins in double overtime. Well, he is officially off the hook, thanks to Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry.

The Penguins fought tooth and nail against the New York Islanders in Game 5 on Monday, with the contest reaching double overtime. Jarry retrieved the puck, and attempted to pass it to one of his teammates (somewhere) down ice. However, the pass went directly towards Islanders winger Josh Bailey, who put the puck behind Jarry to secure the 3-2 win and to take the 3-2 series lead.

Jarry may want to stay off Twitter for a while, because Penguins fans were none too happy about his blunder.

Jarry stopped 25-of-28 shots on goal in nearly 81 minutes of ice time on Monday. Now, through five games in this first round series, Jarry has allowed 16 goals on 163 shot attempts, giving him a save percentage of .902.

In the first period, the Penguins got on the board thanks to a goal from center Evgeni Malkin, his first of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Pittsburgh did not leave the period with the lead following a score by Islanders winger Anthony Beauvillier. Bryan Rust’s goal in the second gave the Penguins a 2-1 lead, but Jordan Eberle tied the game in the third to send the game into overtime and eventually double overtime.

The Penguins enter Wednesday night with one goal, and that is to force Game 7. But if they lose at the Nassau Coliseum, the Islanders will advance to the second-round to face the Bruins. If the latter happens, Penguins fans are not going to stop pointing the finger at Jarry for his Game 5 blunder.
