Facundo Campazzo flopped and CJ McCollum was assessed a Flagrant 1 because of it.

In a game ruined by the officials, it was only fitting that Denver Nuggets point guard Facundo Campazzo was able to get a Flagrant 1 called on Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum with one despicable flop.

Denver was able to claim victory in essentially a must-win game for the Nuggets. After dropping Game 1 at home in embarrassing fashion to the Trail Blazers over the weekend, Denver got back into the win column with an easy 128-109 Game 2 victory over Portland. However, all that anybody can talk about from this game was how horrendous the officiating was throughout it.

Take a good look at Campazzo’s acting skills and ask yourself why McCollum even got a Flagrant 1.

Even if the Nuggets were the No. 3 seed in this best-of-seven series, you knew deep down this series between Northwest Division rivals was going to be a long one. It will go at least five with it all tied up at one game apiece, and probably to six or even seven games, given how strong of a No. 6 seed Portland is. All the while, let’s hope that Game 3 is not all about the officials like in Game 2.

One would think that in playoff basketball, the referees would swallow the whistle and let the best players in the game today do what they do best and play. Instead, we got a terrible television product in a late-window game that put the rest of America to asleep who even stayed up to watch it is in the first place. This flop by Campazzo was a microcosm of the truly awful officiating.

We have to wonder if the referees are still out of breath after all the times they blew the whistle.
