It was just one game, but the defending NBA champions were knocked entirely on their ass by a team that missed the playoffs a year ago. The Devin Booker-led Phoenix Suns dominated Game 1, and will be looking to take a commanding 2-0 series lead with them to Los Angeles after Tuesday.

But first we need to get through Game 2, which historically won’t be easy. Not only are the Suns navigating the NBA Playoffs for the first time in 11-years, but the Lakers have a habit of starting slow but turning the heat up as a series continues.

Look no further than last year, when the Lakers lost opening series games to both the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets in the first and second round. Los Angeles responded in both instances by winning its next four games and finishing off each series victorious on its way to an NBA Finals win.

Unless Anthony Davis corrects his putrid shooting from Game 1, Los Angeles will have an uphill battle. Deandre Ayton thoroughly outplayed Davis on Sunday afternoon which can’t happen is the Lakers expect to continue their title defense.
