3 trades Packers should make that don’t involve moving Aaron Rodgers

2. Add Odell Beckham Jr. to the Packers receiving corps to shake things up

Admittedly, this potential trade has lost its steam in recent weeks. This has everything to do with the 2021 NFL Draft having come and gone. While he has not been healthy during his run with the Cleveland Browns, and does carry a massive contract as well, adding Odell Beckham Jr. to the receiving corps when his NFL stock feels at an all-time low could be a huge boost for the Packers.

Think about it from this perspective. The Packers are not trading for Beckham for him to be their No. 1 wide receiver at this point, as they already have Davante Adams playing at an elite level. You would be adding Beckham to be an overqualified No. 2, much like he is in Cleveland opposite of his former college teammate Jarvis Landry. The biggest difference here is improved quarterback play.

Since coming onto the seen at LSU, Beckham has had guys like Zach Mettenberger, fellow Isidore Newman alum Eli Manning and Baker Mayfield rifling him the pigskin. Manning may be Canton bound and Mayfield may have won a Heisman Trophy, but this is Rodgers we are talking about! If you thought Beckham was popular with the New York Giants, imagine him being on the Packers.

Instead of playing in a top-20 media market with a top-16 quarterback throwing him the ball in front of a top-10 fan base, Beckham upgrades to a top-three quarterback and a top-three fan base upon arrival. Unlike in Cleveland, this is an offense where the quarterback has to throw the ball to be successful. Trading for Beckham is the offensive equivalent of signing Charles Woodson.
