When the Pittsburgh Steelers posted a video of Ben Roethlisberger throwing passes to Najee Harris, PFF struck with a devastatingly brutal burn.

Ben Roethlisberger is coming off a 12-3 season at age 38 with the Steelers. He clearly has something left to give as a quarterback.

But there’s a harsh truth even Pittsburgh fans have to accept: The guy can’t throw the deep ball anymore.

The Steelers‘ vertical passing game held them back at times last season. It’s not likely to get much better as Roethlisberger gets older.

The best thing to do is to accept that reality (Drew Brees’ arm fell off and he still led the Saints to plenty of victories) while hoping offensive coordinator Matt Canada can work around the issue.

The next thing to do is to laugh when objectively funny burns on the subject come Roethlisberger’s way because there’s no other way to describe Pro Football Focus’ latest dig at the quarterback.

The Steelers shared that video to show Roethlisberger working with new running back Najee Harris. PFF used it to ether him with a simple yet effective troll job.

Ben Roethlisberger still be successful, he just can’t throw it long

Roethlisberger will get the last laugh if he produces another strong season in 2021. He threw for 3,803 yards and 33 touchdowns while the Steelers finished first in the AFC North.

A 48-38 loss to the Browns in the Wild Card round put a damper on the team that started 10-0 but seemed to fall off a cliff in the final weeks of the season.

This year, Roethlisberger will have his three leading receivers back in Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and JuJu Smith-Schuster. He’ll also have Harris as a new weapon in the mold of Le’Veon Bell.

The weapons are there even if the arm strength isn’t.
