The Kansas City Chiefs are getting good news on quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who went through OTAs without any issues.

If Patrick Mahomes is upright, the Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl LVI favorites.

Good news for those in the heartland? Mahomes is indeed upright. And then some.

On Thursday, the Chiefs wrapped up their first portion of OTAs and Mahomes was present for all three sessions, although he was given the final day off.

In his press conference with local media, head coach Andy Reid stated Mahomes was doing very well and wasn’t limited after having offseason foot surgery to fix an injury which occurred in the AFC Divisional round against the Cleveland Browns.

It appears that barring any kind of setback, Kansas City’s most valuable player will be ready to go for the remainder of voluntary OTAs, mandatory minicamp in June and then the start of training camp in late July.

With Mahomes under center, the Chiefs are the odds-on favorites in Vegas Sportsbooks to not only reach the Super Bowl for a third consecutive year — something only done by the 1971-73 Miami Dolphins, 1990-93 Buffalo Bills and 2016-18 New England Patriots — but to win it all for the second time in that span.

Kansas City is slated to open the season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Browns at Arrowhead Stadium, welcoming Cleveland in after beating it 22-17 in the aforementioned playoff game in January.
