Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis went down with a groin injury against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

Rough news came in for the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday in Game 4 against the Phoenix Suns, as Anthony Davis went down with a groin injury and wasn’t able to get up. The superstar was in a tremendous amount of pain down on the floor, of course bringing concern to the LA coaching staff.

It’s since been announced that Davis will not be able to return to the hardwood in this one. In the video below, you can see Davis landed awkwardly. This is not good for the Lakers.

Anthony Davis injury update

It goes without saying, but this series will be completely changed if Davis is forced to miss some games. Phoenix has dominated Game 4. Los Angeles is a totally different team without Davis out on the floor with LeBron James and Co.

The Lakers entered Sunday with a 2-1 series lead, but Phoenix has looked like the superior squad in Game 4. The hope is that Davis won’t have to miss an extended period of time, but groin strains can be difficult to overcome.

This isn’t something that’s going to go away overnight. The training staff will work tirelessly to try and improve Davis’ pain, but his status for the rest of the series is totally up in the air. Without Davis, LA’s hopes of repeating as NBA Finals champs will surely get quite complicated.

Folks all over the city will be waiting patiently to see just how much time Davis will miss. If it indeed is a serious injury, it will be on James and the other LA standouts to try and lead the way. Playing without Davis is a tough task, though.
