After leaving Game 4, Lakers fans are hoping for good news when it comes to an Anthony Davis injury update

The last thing the Lakers wanted to see was Anthony Davis sitting on the bench during a playoff game with an injury.

Such a fate would be avoided in Game 3, but the Lakers weren’t so luck in Game 4. As the first half was coming to a close Davis took a hard fall to the court and appeared hobbled as he tried to move down the court.

Davis was not on the floor when the second half began and the Lakers quickly ruled him out for the remained of the game.

Is Anthony Davis hurt?

The better question this season is when hasn’t Davis been hurt?

It’s been a rough 2020-21 season for Anthony Davis. The Lakers star missed most of the season with a calf strain and Achilles tendinitis, an injury that held him out for over two months of action.

Once the playoffs started, Davis tried to navigate a slew of injuries as they started to stack up. He suffered an apparent knee injury in a Game 3 win over the Suns, but wasn’t forced to leave the game permanently.

Davis wasn’t so lucky in Game 4. After suffering a strained groin at the end of the first half, Davis was forced to sit out the rest of the game and watch courtside as the Lakers struggled to catch up with the Suns without him on the court.

Anthony Davis return date

Davis being forced out of Game 4 revealed just how badly the Lakers need him in the NBA Playoffs. Without Davis, the Suns absolutely waxed the floor with the Lakers and extended their lead to as much as 18-points in the fourth quarter.

The major concern for Davis is how long his body can hold up if he’s rushed back for Game 5. It’s bad enough that he suffered a strained groin on Sunday, but the knee injury he suffered in Game 3 is also something to keep an eye on.

For a guy who missed over two months with lower body injuries, the fact that Davis has now suffered two in back-to-back games is every reason for the Lakers to potentially rest Davis in Game 5 and save him for Game 6.
