Clemson enters the picture for 2023 No. 1 recruit Lebbeus Overton

2023 5-star defensive end Lebbeus Overton’s latest offer is from the Clemson football team.
Everybody wants the top recruit of the 2023 class in five-star defensive end Lebbeus Overton, so it should not be shocking the nearby Clemson football program has entered the picture for him.
Clemson is the latest Power Five program to offer Overton. The 6-foot-4.5 and 265-pound defensive end is entering his junior year at Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Bessemer, Alabama native has 24 official offers from teams like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and now Clemson. Here is what Overton said recently about the Clemson program.
“I mean their program is outstanding,” said Overton. “The atmosphere is amazing. When I took a visit there it was unbelievable. I’m close with the coaching staff too … The players are cool. I know a lot of players there. It’s interesting.”

Thus far, the only prediction made by a 247Sports staffer for Overton is a lukewarm one to Oklahoma. Because he is not playing in his home state of Alabama, Overton could seriously end up playing at any Power Five behemoth. That is what makes his recruitment so compelling. Given that he is playing in the Greater Atlanta Area, he is right in the middle of the college football universe.
Clemson is about an hour and change north of Atlanta up I-85. Many great high school students in the area chose to go to Clemson. Overton has a 4.0 GPA through his first two years of high school. Ultimately, he has the talent and the grades to play anywhere he wants. So no, it would not be shocking to see him end up playing for Dabo Swinney at Clemson.
Expect Overton’s high-profile recruitment to be among the most captivating of the 2023 class.
