Penn State football fans are now allowed to pack Beaver Stadium to the brim in 2021.

James Franklin’s Penn State football team will be playing in front of a packed house at Beaver Stadium for all seven of their 2021 home games.

Penn State announced on Wednesday it will be 107,000 strong this year. After not playing in front of fans a season ago, this is a huge boost for a blue-blood program like Penn State who feeds off the fans’ energy. This will go a long way towards the Nittany Lions getting back to good after a disastrous 2020 season. Penn State opens up vs. the MAC’s Ball State Cardinals on Sept. 11.

How much of a positive effect will having a full-capacity crowd have at a place like Penn State?

Penn State football: Nittany Lions to play in front of 107,000 in 2021

While Penn State is not the favorite to win the Big Ten East this year, as the Nittany Lions will have to face the Ohio State Buckeyes in The Horseshoe, being able to play seven home games in front of a max-capacity crowd could tip the scales in a handful of games. Besides Ball State, Penn State has other difficult home games vs. Auburn (Sept. 18), Indiana (Oct. 2) and Michigan (Nov. 13).

Admittedly, this is a very important year for Franklin’s program. He and his team must assert themselves in Big Ten play. Otherwise, we could be looking at big changes coming in Happy Valley. With three very tough road games this year at Wisconsin (Sept. 4), at Iowa (Oct. 9) and at Ohio State (Oct. 30), this puts even more pressure on Penn State to win as many as possible at home.

Here is to Penn State being able to protect its home turf with the very best of them this season.
