Rough news has arrived for Alabama head coach Nick Saban, as running back Keilan Robinson has decided to enter the transfer portal.

While the transfer portal can be gold for college football programs, it can also be a bit of a bummer at times as well. Unfortunately for the Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Nick Saban, they had some bad luck land their way this week.

According to insider Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Alabama running back Keilan Robinson has decided to enter the portal. Robinson was a former 4-star signee, but he’ll look to close out his career elsewhere.

Alabama running back Keilan Robinson has reportedly entered the transfer portal

Robinson made plenty of noise as a true freshman in 2019, rushing for 254 yards and two touchdowns on 39 carries. Last fall, though, Robinson didn’t see any action in Alabama’s National Championship campaign. That has many fans not too surprised to see him leave the program.

Out of the 2019 class, Robinson was ranked four stars and the No. 15 running back in the country, per the 247Sports composite. He had a boatload of offers, signing with Saban and Alabama over Arizona, USC, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Rutgers and several others.

During spring camp, Robinson had earned the praise consistently from Saban leading up to the 2021 campaign. The 5-foot-9, 190-pounder figured to see plenty of playing time this season in hopes of helping the Crimson Tide defend their title. Instead, the Washington D.C. native will indeed suit up elsewhere.

It’s unknown where he’ll be transferring to, though several schools will surely be showing interest in landing his services. Barring a last minute change of plans, Robinson appears to have played his last snap for Saban.
