Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire thinks Julio Jones would enjoy catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.

The Julio Jones sweepstakes is in full swing, with the Falcons basically forced to trade him at this point given the wideout’s preference to play elsewhere. Heck, he said it on live television.

Whether Jones knew he was on live with Shannon Sharpe or not is beyond the point. Clearly, he wants out. So…where might Jones land?

The likes of Tennessee and New England remain the favorites given their cap room and need for a trusty wide receiver, but the Chiefs could add yet another weapon beside Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. It would require some salary cap gymnastics by Brett Veach, but what else is new?

Chiefs: Clyde Edwards-Helaire recruits Julio Jones to Kansas City on Twitter

An innocent tweet never hurt anyone. Can you imagine Jones in the Chiefs offense? Mahomes already has a bevy of weapons at his disposal. KC lost Sammy Watkins this offseason, and Jones would serve as a massive, Pro Bowl-level upgrade over him.

Edwards-Helaire can sure imagine it, and he made sure Jones knew how excited he was about the potential of the 32-year-old coming to Kansas City.

Jones played in just nine games last year due to injury, catching 51 passes for 771 yards. He’s just two seasons removed from a Pro Bowl, however, and remains on the top pass-catching options in the NFL.

With Mahomes throwing him the ball, the possibilities are endless. Veach already supplied his star quarterback with a stout offensive line this offseason thanks to the signing of Joe Thuney and trading for Orlando Brown.

Trading for Jones would be overkill for a team with 20-0 aspiration. But heck, why not? Veach is out here playing Madden.
