With the Dallas Mavericks suffering a first-round exit in the 201 NBA Playoffs, the front office needs to be busy this offseason in bringing in talent.

Just like that, the 2020-21 season has officially come to a close for the Dallas Mavericks. While the team had high expectations for the campaign, the Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers were simply too much for Luka Doncic and Co. to overcome in Sunday’s Game 7.

Now, it’s back to the drawing board for the front office, as a first-round loss is not what can continue to happen moving forward. The Mavs have some decisions to make, with Tim Hardaway Jr.’s free agency, Josh Richardson’s $11.6 million player option and Willie Cauley-Stein’s team option being at the top of the list.

However, the Mavs can create some cap space to pursue notable free agents if they so choose. Having said that, here’s a look at three players the team should go after this offseason to help out the offense, with rim-runner Richaun Holmes being an honorable mention.

3. Norman Powell

Similar to the Clippers, the Portland Trail Blazers also suffered a first-round exit, despite the heroic efforts from Damian Lillard. In addition to Lillard, Normal Powell also showed Portland fans just how special of a player he can be.

Unfortunately for those fans, Powell has a player option this offseason and he could very well choose to opt out and enter free agency. Should that happen, which is looking likely, Dallas would be wise to waste no time in contacting his agent.

Powell, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound wing, averaged 18.6 points per game this year, adding 3.1 rebounds per outing. He can shoot lights out when he catches fire and would be a welcome addition to Dallas after canning 41.1 percent of his 3-pointers this year. He may cost a bit, but he’d sure be worth it. The former second-round pick shot 44.3 percent from the floor while with Portland.
