Eagles: 5 players who won’t be on the roster by Week 1

The 2017 season featured a win in Super Bowl LII. Now the Philadelphia Eagles begin anew. And it figures to be a busy time for general manager Howie Roseman.

In 2016, the Philadelphia Eagles gave up plenty to move up to the second spot in the draft to select quarterback Carson Wentz. He started all 16 games as a rookie and put up MVP-like numbers a year later before suffering a knee injury.

His stay with the club was eventually marred by more injuries and a penchant for turnovers. This offseason, he was dealt to Indianapolis. And after a highly-disappointing 4-11-1 showing, head coach Doug Pederson was shown the door.

Speaking of the Colts, former Colts’ offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni is the new sideline leader. The team has its share of holes to fill after missing the playoffs for the first time since ’16. So what five player don’t figure for the Birds in 2021?

5. T Le’Raven Clark

Along with the turnover issues of quarterback Carson Wentz, now a member of the Indianapolis Colts, the once-formidable offensive line of the Philadelphia Eagles was plagued by injuries and poor performance this past year. The team allowed a league-high 65 sacks and Ben Linsey of Pro Football Focus (subscription required) ranked the unit just 19th in the NFL in 2020.

Tackle Le’Raven Clark comes over this year from the Colts. A former third-round pick by the club in ’17, he made only 15 starts in four seasons with the organization.
